Marks & Harrison Launches Driver Safety Scholarship to Combat Distracted Driving

Marks & Harrison, a long-standing law firm with over a century of history in Virginia and Washington DC, has initiated a scholarship contest aimed at raising awareness about distracted driving among high school and college students.

The scholarship competition invites graduating high school seniors and rising college freshmen to submit original essays or video submissions exploring strategies to educate communities about the dangers of distracted driving. Participants are challenged to propose practical methods for reducing driving-related accidents caused by distraction.

The contest offers substantial financial incentives, with a first-place award of $2,000, second place receiving $1,200, and third place earning $1,000. These scholarships are designed to support students' higher education pursuits while simultaneously addressing a critical public safety concern.

Entries must be at least 1,000 words in written form or 5-6 minutes in video format, with a submission deadline of May 2, 2025. A panel of judges will evaluate submissions based on originality, creativity, and research quality, with winning entries to be published on the firm's website and social media platforms on June 2, 2025.
