NewGenIvf Acquires MicroSort, Expands Fertility Services with Advanced Sperm-Sorting Technology

NewGenIvf Group Ltd has acquired MicroSort, a proprietary sperm-sorting technology company, in a strategic $5 million transaction designed to enhance its fertility services and expand market reach in Asia. The deal involves $750,000 in cash and 125,000 ordinary shares at $34 per share.

The acquisition provides NewGenIvf with innovative technology that can separate X and Y chromosome-bearing sperm cells before in vitro fertilization, offering potential benefits for family balancing and preventing X-linked genetic disorders. MicroSort's technology enables increased percentages of sperm carrying desired chromosomes, which can be used in various reproductive techniques.

While gender selection through sperm sorting remains restricted in the United States, the technology is legal in several Asian countries, including Thailand, Japan, Cambodia, and Mexico. This positions NewGenIvf to leverage the technology in markets with fewer regulatory constraints.

The acquisition is particularly significant given China's projected $11 billion IVF market by 2033. With China's efforts to address population decline, including potential policy changes allowing IVF for single women and free treatments through national insurance, NewGenIvf's new technology could provide critical services for families seeking to prevent genetic disorders.

CEO Siu Wing Fung Alfred highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition, noting that it will strengthen the company's market position in the rapidly growing Asian fertility services market and provide new options for customers seeking genetic screening and family planning solutions.
