The DFW Car & Toy Museum has unveiled a rare automotive treasure: a 1966 Mercedes-Benz 600 Six-Door Pullman Limousine that represents a pinnacle of mid-20th century automotive engineering and luxury. This exceptional vehicle, one of only 42 six-door configurations ever manufactured, offers a glimpse into an era of technological innovation and automotive prestige.

Originally developed for world leaders and dignitaries, including papal transportation, the Mercedes-Benz 600 featured groundbreaking hydraulic systems that powered nearly every vehicle function, including a self-leveling air suspension. This particular model is even more extraordinary, being one of only 11 examples equipped with both a factory sunroof and air conditioning.

The limousine's provenance is equally remarkable. Originally retained by Mercedes-Benz to transport visiting engineers and VIP guests, the vehicle was later owned by Klaus Kienle, a former head of major repairs and special vehicles at Mercedes-Benz. The car has been meticulously maintained, with documented service from Mercedes-Benz Classic Center USA.

Now part of the museum's collection at its new 150,000-square-foot facility in Fort Worth, this automotive masterpiece represents more than just a classic car. It symbolizes an important technological and design milestone in automotive history, showcasing the pinnacle of mid-century German engineering and luxury transportation.

The museum, which will open its new location in the first quarter of 2025, continues to offer free admission, allowing automotive enthusiasts and history buffs to experience this and other extraordinary vehicles that represent significant moments in transportation innovation.
