San Juan Domino Challenge Brings Competitive Dominoes to Puerto Rico

The International Domino Federation (IDF) and the National Domino Federation of Puerto Rico (NDFPR) will host the San Juan Domino Challenge on April 24, 2025, transforming Popular Plaza in San Juan into a competitive gaming arena. Sports celebrities and domino enthusiasts from the United States, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico will battle for a substantial $20,000 prize pool.

The event, running from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, promises more than just competitive play. With DJ performances and support from multiple sponsors including the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Monster Energy, and Humana, the challenge represents a significant cultural and entertainment spectacle.

Ralph Paniagua, Event Producer for 21 Events, emphasized the tournament's importance as a pre-event to the World Domino Tournament scheduled for October 1-4 at the Convention Center. This strategic positioning highlights the growing recognition of dominoes as a competitive sport with international appeal.

The challenge serves multiple purposes beyond entertainment. It promotes Puerto Rico's tourism, showcases local and international gaming talent, and provides a platform for cultural exchange through a beloved traditional game.
