UGI Utilities Resumes Natural Gas Main Replacement Project Near Lancaster General Hospital

UGI Utilities, Inc. has announced the resumption of a significant natural gas main replacement project in Lancaster City, including areas surrounding Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital, starting July 21, 2025. This initiative underscores UGI's dedication to ensuring the safety and reliability of its natural gas services. The project, expected to conclude by the end of September, will also provide an opportunity for certain homes and businesses along the route to switch to natural gas.

The construction will affect traffic on North Duke Street, between East Clay Street and East Chestnut Street, and East Frederick Street, between North Christian Street and North Duke Street. Scheduled from Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, the work may lead to road closures, detours, and traffic delays, with parking restrictions on the impacted streets during construction hours. Additionally, interruptions to natural gas service are anticipated, necessitating UGI's access to properties for equipment inspection and relighting.

Completion of the project is subject to weather and working conditions, with final paving and restoration to follow the underground work.
