Boca Helping Hands (BHH) is set to host its annual Bowling for Bread event on Sunday, August 24, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Lucky Strike in Boca Raton. This event not only offers an afternoon of bowling, food, and fun for children from local charities at no cost but also plays a crucial role in supporting the BHH Backpacks weekend meal program. The program ensures that food-insecure students in area schools have access to non-perishable, easy-to-prepare meals every Friday, helping them stay nourished over the weekend.

The Bowling for Bread event is a highlight of the Boca Chamber Festival Days, a series of August events designed to raise awareness and funds by connecting nonprofits with for-profit members of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. This year, the event is proudly sponsored by the Lee Pearlson Steinberg Foundation, with Ovation Home Insurance Exchange serving as the For-Profit Chamber Partner. Additional support comes from the Gary Peters Family Foundation and Humana Healthy Horizons in Florida.

Community members are encouraged to contribute by sponsoring a child for $100, a lane for one of the participating children's charities for $500, or by making a donation of any size to support the Backpack program. Last school year, the BHH Backpacks program assisted over 1,100 students across 13 local schools, distributing 181,362 meals and 60,454 snacks to elementary students in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach.

The Lee Pearlson Steinberg Foundation's continued sponsorship underscores the community's commitment to addressing child hunger. Foundation Trustee Lee Steinberg shared, 'Being part of the fun at Bowling for Bread and seeing the kids enjoy themselves is something I look forward to every year. My mom Pearl’s love for children’s causes inspired me to support Bowling for Bread in her memory. It’s a wonderful way to honor her legacy.'

The event not only provides immediate relief to children in need but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility towards ensuring no child goes hungry on the weekends.
