Feeding South Florida®, the premier hunger-relief organization in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties, is set to observe Hunger Action Month this September. The initiative, under the theme "Power in Every Action," aims to mobilize the South Florida community in the fight against hunger. With over 1.2 million individuals facing food insecurity in the region, the campaign seeks to address the critical need for nutritious food access amidst rising living costs and economic challenges.

The month-long event features a variety of activities designed to engage the public, including an online auction, the sale of "Hunger Heroes" t-shirts, and a Hunger Action Match where donations up to $25,000 will be matched. These efforts are crucial, as every dollar donated can provide approximately four meals to families in need. Additionally, the community is encouraged to participate in food and fund drives, dine at participating restaurants, and volunteer at Feeding South Florida's facilities.

Highlighting the month is Hunger Action Day on September 9, also known as "GO ORANGE DAY," where individuals are invited to wear orange to show solidarity. Corporate teams can join the Pack to Give Back event on September 12, and the Outrun Hunger 5K in Palm Beach County offers another avenue for participation. The initiative also calls for creative community involvement, such as hosting orange bake sales or promoting hunger awareness in schools.

Paco Vélez, president and CEO of Feeding South Florida, emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing food insecurity. The organization's efforts are supported by a network of over 350 nonprofit and community partners, serving more than 1.17 million individuals.
