ATS Group Expands Global Defense Manufacturing, Plans New Texas Facility Amid Industry Shortages

North Macedonia's ATS Group unveiled ambitious expansion plans at SHOT Show 2025, including a new ammunition facility in Texas and increased production capabilities, addressing critical shortages in the global defense industry. The announcement comes as defense budgets worldwide continue to rise and military arsenal shortages persist.

The company showcased several innovations at the prestigious trade event, including new steel-core ammunition, advanced gunpowder blends, and rare composite ballistic textiles - currently produced by only one other facility in Europe. ATS Group also announced plans to commence serial production of artillery ammunition in 2025 and introduce military drones to its portfolio.

Following a €60 million investment in facility modernization and digitalization, ATS Group has expanded its manufacturing capabilities to include four factories specializing in technology, ammunition, ballistics, and ballistic textiles. The company's strategic growth includes a new London office and planned expansion across Europe, demonstrating its evolution from a regional manufacturer to a global defense industry supplier.

The expansion is particularly significant for the defense sector, as ATS Group's increased primer production addresses a severe global shortage of this critical ammunition component. With a current capacity exceeding 200 million rounds of small caliber ammunition annually, the company's growth could help stabilize supply chains in the defense industry.

The development marks a notable shift in the global defense manufacturing landscape, as smaller nations like North Macedonia emerge as significant players in an industry traditionally dominated by larger powers.
