Sonepar has announced a strategic consolidation of its Midwest electrical distribution operations, merging Echo Electric, Springfield Electric, Richards Electric, Pepco, and Holt into a single entity operating under the Echo Electric brand. The new organization will represent over $1.2 billion in annual sales and employ 1,300 associates across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Nebraska, and southern South Dakota.
The merger leverages the combined 400 years of industry experience to provide customers with expanded inventory, specialized expertise, and enhanced service capabilities. Chris Scarbrough, previously president of Springfield Electric, will lead the new Echo Electric organization, emphasizing a unified vision, culture, and strategy.
This consolidation marks Sonepar's sixth U.S. operation exceeding $1 billion in annual sales. The move signals the company's commitment to strengthening its market position and providing comprehensive electrical distribution services across the Midwest. By integrating multiple successful distributors, Echo Electric aims to offer more robust solutions for electrical contractors, industrial and utility markets, and institutional customers.
The new organization will continue to provide specialized services including panel and switchboard assembly, control panel design, cable management, digital solutions, utility sub-station packages, and industrial solutions. With over 60 locations covering 500,000 square miles, Echo Electric is positioned to deliver comprehensive electrical distribution services with enhanced efficiency and capability.
