Opawica Explorations has commenced its 2025 drilling program at the Bazooka Property, located in the prolific Abitibi Gold Belt near Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. The exploration targets build upon previous geological mapping and fieldwork that revealed significant gold mineralization potential.
The current drilling initiative focuses on expanding known high-grade gold zones, with planned targets positioned 50 meters from the 2022 drill program sites. Previous drilling results revealed exceptional gold grades, including intersections of 18.70 g/t Au over 1 meter and 13.70 g/t Au over 1.6 meters in quartz-rich and silicified zones.
Strategically positioned adjacent to Agnico Eagle's Wasamac gold project, the Bazooka Property presents a compelling exploration opportunity. The property's geological characteristics, including quartz-carbonate-sericite schists and diverse mineralization zones, suggest substantial gold hosting potential.
Key exploration targets include measuring the continuity of high-grade gold mineralization along southwest and west-striking geological planes. The drilling program will investigate zones with visible gold, silicified shear zones, and quartz vein stockworks that indicate promising mineral deposits.
Opawica's president, Blake Morgan, expressed confidence in the property's prospects, highlighting the presence of historical mineralization and strategic geological positioning.
