The Atlanta Community Food Bank is hosting its 41st annual Hunger Walk Run, inviting community members to participate in a critical effort to address food insecurity. The event, scheduled for March 9 at The Home Depot Backyard, offers participants an opportunity to directly impact hunger relief in metro Atlanta and North Georgia.
Participants can choose between walking or running, with each registration generating significant meal contributions. Walkers provide 90 meals, while runners contribute 120 meals to support children, families, and seniors struggling with food access. This becomes particularly crucial given that 1 in 5 children in Georgia currently face hunger challenges.
Over its 40-year history, the Hunger Walk Run has raised more than $15.5 million, translating to over 46 million meals distributed. The event supports the Atlanta Community Food Bank and its network of 700 nonprofit partners that operate food pantries, shelters, community kitchens, and support centers throughout the region.
Online registration is available until March 7 at noon, with fees of $30 for walkers and $40 for runners. Participants can register on the event day, though at a higher rate. The event welcomes individuals and teams of all ages and abilities, featuring music, food vendors, and warm-up activities.
As the fourth-largest food bank nationally by distribution volume, the Atlanta Community Food Bank serves over 715,000 food-insecure individuals. The Hunger Walk Run represents a vital community-driven approach to addressing systemic hunger and providing nutritional support to those most vulnerable.
