The Chlorine Institute (CI) has recognized two industry professionals for their outstanding contributions to safety and operational excellence in the chlor-alkali sector. Manuel "Manny" Correia of Kuehne Chemical Company received the prestigious Peter M. Mayo Award, while John Christie of ERCO Worldwide was named an Honorary Member.
Correia, with over two decades of experience, has been instrumental in advancing safety and emergency preparedness initiatives. His work includes serving on Emergency Preparedness and Product Stewardship Issue Teams and instructing annual emergency response training at the Mississippi State Fire Academy since 2007.
The Peter M. Mayo Award, established in 2005, is one of the Chlorine Institute's highest honors. It recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and service to the chlor-alkali industry, serving as a memorial to Peter M. Mayo, a respected industry leader.
John Christie's Honorary Membership is particularly significant, as it has been bestowed on only 15 individuals in the Institute's 101-year history. Throughout his 43-year career, Christie has made substantial contributions to the industry, including leadership roles on the CI Board and significant work on various committees.
