The Chlorine Institute (CI) has awarded its highest safety recognition to 39 facilities across North America and internationally, celebrating their remarkable achievement of maintaining zero recordable injuries, zero reportable incidents, and zero Risk Management Plan accidents over a five-year period.
These facilities, spanning chlor-alkali producers, chlorine packagers, sodium hypochlorite manufacturers, and chlorine industrial users, represent a diverse cross-section of the chemical industry. The Diamond Level status underscores the industry's 'Aim for Zero' philosophy, which prioritizes protecting workers, communities, and the environment.
CI President Frank Reiner emphasized the significance of this recognition, noting that it serves as a benchmark for excellence and inspires continuous improvement across the industry. The honorees demonstrate that rigorous safety standards are achievable through comprehensive training, guidance materials, and a committed organizational culture.
The recognized facilities include major companies such as Dow Chemical Company, Covestro LLC, Brenntag North America, and Univar Solutions, representing operations in multiple countries including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany.
By highlighting these achievements, the Chlorine Institute not only celebrates individual facility successes but also promotes a broader industry-wide commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. The Diamond Level recognition signals to stakeholders that the chlor-alkali industry is dedicated to responsible chemical production and handling.
