SolarBank Corp. is expanding its renewable energy portfolio with a new 4.584 megawatt DC ground-mount solar project in upstate New York. The Forest Hill Rd project is positioned to generate clean energy for approximately 540 homes, representing a significant contribution to local sustainable energy infrastructure.
The project will operate under New York's community solar framework, allowing it to leverage Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) compensation and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) incentives. These financial mechanisms are designed to support and accelerate renewable energy development in the state.
SolarBank has already secured the site lease and initiated an interconnection study. Upon successful completion of the study, the company will proceed with permitting and financing stages. Solar Simplified will manage subscriber management, enabling SolarBank to concentrate on project development and strategic expansion.
The project highlights the ongoing growth of distributed and community solar initiatives in the United States. By providing locally generated renewable energy, SolarBank is contributing to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the transition to a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
With this development, SolarBank continues to demonstrate its commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure across North America, offering an alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based electricity generation.
