SolarBank Corp. is expanding its renewable energy infrastructure with a new 7.2 MW ground-mount solar project located in upstate New York. The Glor Rd project represents a significant step in the company's ongoing commitment to distributed and community solar initiatives in the region.
The solar installation will operate under New York's community solar framework, a model that enables residents and renters to access clean energy without requiring personal solar panel installations. Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 850 homes, demonstrating the scalable potential of community solar programs.
This development will participate in New York's Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) rate program and may qualify for additional incentives from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). These programs are designed to encourage renewable energy adoption and support the state's clean energy transition.
The Glor Rd project adds to SolarBank's growing portfolio of solar developments in upstate New York, signaling the company's strategic focus on expanding renewable energy infrastructure. By leveraging community solar models, SolarBank is helping to democratize clean energy access and reduce barriers to sustainable power generation.
