Teck Resources Limited has renewed its sponsorship of BC Alpine Ski Association, committing to support alpine ski racing development in British Columbia through the 2030-2031 season. The continued partnership will sustain critical youth skiing programs that have been instrumental in developing competitive athletes across the province.
Since 2008, Teck has been the title sponsor of the U14 and U16 race series, supporting 32 ski clubs and over 6,700 members. The sponsorship enables approximately 50 ski race events annually between December and April, providing opportunities for young athletes aged 11 to 16.
BC Alpine CEO Anders Hestdalen emphasized the significance of sustained programming, crediting the Teck partnership for helping develop athletes who have gone on to compete in World Championships and the Olympics. The collaboration extends beyond financial support, with Teck employees actively engaging in community activities and many serving as volunteers in local ski clubs.
Carleigh Whitman, Head of Social Performance & Indigenous Relations at Teck, highlighted the company's commitment to supporting youth engagement and enjoying British Columbia's natural environment through skiing.
The continued sponsorship represents a significant investment in youth sports development and community building, ensuring young skiers across British Columbia have opportunities to pursue athletic excellence and enjoy winter sports.
