Lahontan Gold Corp. has begun its 2025 drilling program at the Santa Fe Mine project in Nevada's Walker Lane region, focusing initial efforts on the Slab target area. The company has deployed a reverse-circulation drill rig and supporting equipment to conduct exploration and resource expansion activities.
The drilling initiative will first target patented claims before potentially expanding onto Bureau of Land Management (BLM) administered lands, pending regulatory approval. Lahontan's primary objectives include expanding known gold and silver resources at the Slab and York targets while collecting additional samples for metallurgical testing.
The Santa Fe Mine project has significant historical production, having previously yielded 359,202 ounces of gold and 702,067 ounces of silver between 1988 and 1995 through open pit mining and heap-leach processing. Current mineral resource estimates indicate an Indicated Mineral Resource of 1,539,000 ounces of gold equivalent and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 411,000 ounces of gold equivalent.
Investors and industry observers can anticipate initial assay results within four to six weeks, which could provide critical insights into the project's potential and Lahontan's strategic development plans for the Santa Fe Mine.
