UGI Utilities is initiating a significant upgrade project in Hellertown starting the week of June 9, aimed at enhancing the safety and reliability of its services. This initiative not only underscores UGI's commitment to maintaining high service standards but also presents an opportunity for some residents and businesses along the project route to switch to natural gas, potentially offering them a more efficient energy solution.
The upgrade work will primarily affect Easton Road and Ringhoffer Road, with varying degrees of traffic disruptions expected. Easton Road will experience lane closures and full road closures at different times, while Ringhoffer Road will be closed 24/7 between Easton Road and Sherry Hill Road for the duration of the project. These disruptions, although temporary, are necessary for the underground work that is slated for completion by the end of October for Easton Road and by the end of June for Ringhoffer Road, weather permitting.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas should prepare for some interruptions to natural gas service, as UGI will need access to properties to inspect and relight equipment. The company has assured that it will work diligently to minimize inconvenience and complete the project as efficiently as possible. This upgrade is a critical step towards modernizing the local energy infrastructure, ensuring that the community benefits from reliable and safe energy services for years to come.
