Good Bull Investments, a private equity and real estate investment firm headquartered in The Woodlands, has recently acquired the historic Commodore on the Beach hotel from JMK5 Holdings, a real estate firm led by notable developer Jerome Karam. This acquisition represents Good Bull Investments' first venture into the hospitality industry, with plans to renovate and reopen the 92-room mid-century hotel located at 3618 Seawall Blvd. in Galveston by Mardi Gras 2026. Construction is set to recommence within the next month under the guidance of WC Construction.
The sale of the Commodore Hotel signifies a pivotal shift for JMK5 Holdings, which has dedicated years to revitalizing historic and underutilized properties throughout Galveston County. Jerome Karam, who purchased the Commodore in 2021, has overseen significant renovations, including contributions from his children, Joshua and Joann Marilyn Karam. Karam stated, "I wasn't looking to sell, but it was the right time," highlighting JMK5 Holdings' new focus on marquee redevelopment projects with greater community impact, such as the transformation of the former Gulf Greyhound Park into a premier concert venue and ongoing efforts to rejuvenate Westheimer in Houston.
In addition to the Commodore Hotel, Good Bull Investments has also purchased a commercial shopping center in Friendswood and a cruise ship parking property in Galveston from JMK5 Holdings, further establishing its footprint in the region. Tina Blake, Vice President of Operations for Good Bull Investments, expressed enthusiasm about continuing the progress initiated by JMK5 and entering the hospitality sector with the Commodore Hotel.
This transaction underscores JMK5 Holdings' strategic redirection towards large-scale redevelopment projects, reinforcing its reputation for revitalizing landmark properties and fostering economic growth in Galveston County and beyond. The sale of the Commodore Hotel not only marks a new chapter for Good Bull Investments but also reflects the dynamic evolution of JMK5 Holdings' portfolio and its enduring impact on community development.
