CAHEC Honors 2025 Award Winners for Transformative Contributions to Affordable Housing and Community Development

The annual CAHEC Awards Luncheon, held during the Partners Conference in downtown Raleigh, celebrated the remarkable achievements of individuals and organizations in the affordable housing and community development sectors. This year's awards highlighted projects and people who have not only provided affordable housing solutions but have also fostered community growth and individual well-being.

Davis Park Station was awarded Development of the Year for its 73 affordable housing units in Lexington, featuring Energy Star appliances and a unique Workforce Training Center. This project exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships in creating opportunities for residents and the surrounding community.

Reacy Lockhart received the CAHEC Values Award for his 16 years of service as Maintenance Lead Technician for the Columbus Housing Authority. His dedication ensures that residents of Arbor Pointe II and III enjoy well-maintained amenities and a vibrant living environment.

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky's West Louisville Opportunity Center was recognized with the Outstanding Community Impact Award. By establishing a social services center in a distressed neighborhood, Goodwill has improved healthcare access and community services, including the development of the area's first hospital in over 150 years.

Kellie Freeman, a resident of Cornelia Gardens, was honored with the Resident Spotlight Award. Her story of overcoming personal challenges to become a positive force in her community underscores the transformative power of stable, affordable housing.
