A new peer-reviewed clinical paper on NovaVision's NeuroEyeCoach training program, published in Springer May 2025 Experimental Brain Research, underscores the program's effectiveness in improving visual search performance and reducing visual disability. This study, a collaboration between the University of Verona, Italy, and NovaVision, compared the outcomes of 95 patients using the therapy at home with 31 patients in a clinic setting, finding no significant differences in the benefits received by either group.
NeuroEyeCoach, developed by Vycor Medical, Inc.'s NovaVision division, is designed to aid patients recovering from visual impairments due to stroke or brain injury. The program's latest study builds on previous research, including a 296-patient study published in Cortex, which showed 87% improvements in search time and 80% of patients making fewer errors. The new findings support NeuroEyeCoach's role as a standard of care in saccadic training, particularly relevant given the increasing global shift towards digital health solutions at home.
The study's conclusion that NeuroEyeCoach is equally effective in both settings is significant for the healthcare industry, especially in regions with varying access to vision rehabilitation services. This evidence could encourage wider adoption of digital therapies, offering a cost-effective solution to improve patient outcomes regardless of their access to clinical facilities.
