The Baltimore Children & Youth Fund (BCYF) has made a monumental commitment to the future of Baltimore's youth by announcing an investment exceeding $10 million, alongside over 150 hours of learning opportunities, for the fiscal year 2025. This initiative benefits over 175 grassroots organizations dedicated to expanding opportunities and improving the lives of young people across the city. The announcement aligns with BCYF Month, an annual celebration highlighting the Fund's dedication to equity, youth leadership, and community engagement.
This year's grantees, selected through BCYF's intergenerational Community Grant Review process, include a diverse array of organizations such as The Chris Wilson Foundation, Youth As Resources, and A Prosperous Tomorrow, among others. Notably, nearly half of the reviewers were young people themselves, ensuring that the funding decisions resonate with the values and needs of Baltimore's youth. BCYF's approach not only provides financial support but also fosters a nurturing ecosystem for youth development through professional development sessions and technical assistance.
Devin Jackson, President and CEO of A Prosperous Tomorrow, emphasized the transformative impact of BCYF's support, stating it enables the organization to empower more youth with high-value skills, thereby reengineering futures and shifting possibilities for an entire generation. Similarly, Michael Rosenband of Requity highlighted the inclusive and enriching partnership with BCYF, which has allowed his team to engage in meaningful conversations and feel part of a larger, invaluable movement.
Alysia Lee, President of BCYF, underscored the Fund's mission to build infrastructure around community-rooted excellence, ensuring that Baltimore's young people are surrounded by opportunities at every turn. Since its inception in 2020, BCYF has awarded over $31 million to programs serving children and youth in Baltimore, supported by the city's residents through their tax dollars. This year's investment not only continues this legacy but also strengthens the ecosystem of support for Baltimore's future leaders.
