Waterloo Records Expands Creative Horizons with Launch of Waterloo Sound

Waterloo Records, a cornerstone of Austin's vibrant music scene, has unveiled its latest venture, Waterloo Sound, a cutting-edge post-production studio designed to meet the demands of today's multimedia creators. Located within the iconic Waterloo Records at 1105 N. Lamar Blvd, Waterloo Sound is set to open its doors on August 30, 2025, offering a suite of services that blend traditional and modern production techniques.

At the heart of Waterloo Sound is the Nu•Studio System, a modular studio platform developed by Grammy Award-winning engineer Chad Franscoviak. This system introduces Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision capabilities to Austin's creative community, enabling spatial audio production and high-resolution visual playback. Waterloo Sound represents the first commercial deployment of the Nu•Studio System, underscoring the studio's commitment to innovation.

Emily Gianopoulos, Partner at Waterloo Sound, emphasizes the studio's mission to support Austin's creative legacy while pushing the boundaries of audio and video production. "Our goal with Waterloo Sound is to carry that same energy forward and give creators a home for what comes next," Gianopoulos stated.

Unique to Waterloo Sound is its integration of vinyl lacquer cutting and mastering services, making it one of the few studios in the U.S. to offer both spatial audio post-production and analog vinyl production under one roof. Jon Niess, a mastering engineer and advisor to Nu•Studio, highlights the studio's exceptional sound quality and its potential to serve the creative community.

Beyond its technical offerings, Waterloo Sound enhances the Waterloo Records experience with new amenities for visitors, including a café-style lounge and the opportunity to observe vinyl production firsthand. The studio also features a rentable podcast studio, further expanding its appeal to content creators.
