The Office of Count Jonathan of Aquitaine has officially launched the Centre for Education and Diplomacy in Avignon, France, marking a significant step in the Republic of Aquitaine's commitment to global education, intercultural exchange, and humanitarian diplomacy. This nonprofit initiative builds on nearly two decades of work since the Republic's reestablishment in 2006, formalizing its efforts into a lasting institution.
Located in Avignon, a city with a rich history of international diplomacy, the Centre aims to serve as a civil society pillar for the Republic of Aquitaine. It operates on the principles of sovereignty and international law, as affirmed by the Hague Apostille Convention of 1961, and seeks to actively contribute to the global community through education, diplomacy, and humanitarian service.
The Centre's mission is structured around three key objectives: Educational Advancement, Diplomatic Engagement, and Humanitarian Service. These include supporting heritage-based programs, hosting forums on conflict resolution, and advocating for peace and self-determination in line with international humanitarian law. The Centre plans to launch several programs, such as an International Lecture Series and a Youth Ambassadors Program, to foster global dialogue and diplomatic training among young leaders.
As an independent, self-funded nonprofit, the Centre emphasizes transparency and impartiality in its international engagements. It is preparing to expand partnerships with universities, think tanks, and NGOs, with a focus on collaboration with UN agencies and other international institutions. This initiative not only continues the Republic of Aquitaine's legacy but also ensures its values and commitments are carried forward into future generations.
