DeSimone Consulting Engineering Honored with Four CIB of NYC Awards for Innovative Structural Designs

DeSimone Consulting Engineering has been recognized with four 2025 Richard H. Corbetta Awards by the Concrete Industry Board of New York City (CIB NYC), highlighting the firm's excellence in structural engineering and innovative use of concrete in construction. The awards, set to be presented at the Annual Roger H. Corbetta Awards Dinner on October 30, 2025, at the Rainbow Room in Manhattan, celebrate superior concrete construction and engineering achievements.

The Grand Award was bestowed upon DeSimone for the structural design of 55 Willoughby, a 46-story residential tower in Brooklyn that features a cantilever over an adjacent building. This project showcases DeSimone's creative approach to overcoming urban density challenges through innovative engineering solutions, such as the use of four concrete transfer beams to support the cantilevered structure.

Additional accolades include the Mid-Rise Award for 420 Carroll Street in Brooklyn, the Adaptive Reuse Award for Terminal Warehouse in Manhattan, and the Sustainability Award for Sendero Verde in East Harlem. Each project demonstrates DeSimone's commitment to addressing unique challenges with sustainable and resilient design solutions. For instance, Sendero Verde, the largest Passive House affordable housing development globally, incorporates concrete mixes designed to reduce embodied carbon, aligning with Passive House standards.
