DPR Construction Advances Holy Cross Emergency Department Project in Deerfield Beach

DPR Construction's South Florida Business Unit has made significant progress on the Holy Cross Health Free-Standing Emergency Department (FSED) in Deerfield Beach, transitioning from exterior completion to interior construction. Located at 340 S Federal Highway, the 25,000-square-foot facility is on track to open next spring, despite initial structural challenges that required extensive demolition.

Project manager Bala Purushothaman highlighted the unforeseen structural issues, including tie beam problems and the absence of rebar in exterior walls, which necessitated the demolition of most of the existing building. However, the project remains on schedule, thanks to the collaborative efforts of over 30 trade partners. Their work has not only kept the project on track but also maintained budget and safety standards.

The new FSED will offer a range of emergency services, including advanced diagnostic imaging and a fully functional laboratory, aimed at reducing patient wait times and enhancing accessibility for Deerfield Beach residents. Holy Cross Health Chief Nursing Officer Taren O'Brien emphasized the facility's 24/7 operation and its role in providing convenient emergency care to the community.
