Blue Lagoon Resources Inc. has announced the commissioning of its Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) system at the Dome Mountain Water Treatment Plant and confirmed that underground mining operations will commence on September 24, 2025. The MBBR system, designed to meet all regulatory discharge standards, was developed in collaboration with Soren Jensen, the company's principal environmental consultant from SRK Consulting. Jensen, who holds a master's degree in chemical engineering and has over 20 years of experience in mine water treatment systems, ensured the facility is engineered for efficient operation and full compliance with permit conditions.
The water treatment plant is designed to handle up to 400 liters per minute (L/min), while current mine water output is approximately 20-40 L/min, providing ample capacity as operations scale. This infrastructure underscores Blue Lagoon's commitment to environmental stewardship while supporting safe and efficient underground development. Underground mining will begin with development work, with the company expecting to ramp up to 100 tonnes per day (tpd) within four weeks and 150 tpd within twelve weeks. By that point, five to six working faces will be exposed, enhancing operational flexibility. All mine waste will remain underground, aligning with environmental and regulatory commitments.
To bolster operational readiness and safety, Blue Lagoon has signed a Mutual Aid Agreement with New Gold Inc., ensuring rapid access to additional emergency support if needed. The underground program will be led by Mike McCartin, a seasoned underground mining geologist, who will oversee daily operations and staff training. A Senior Mining Engineer from Roughstock Mining Services will establish mining protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and surveying requirements, embedding industry best practices from the outset.

Dome Mountain is one of only nine projects permitted in British Columbia since 2015, highlighting its rarity and the company's focus on responsible advancement with safety and environmental care at the forefront. The production decision is based on existing mining infrastructure, past bulk sampling, and established mineral resources, though it is not based on a feasibility study of mineral reserves, which carries increased uncertainty and risk.
