Kwikset Expands Smart Home Security with New Garage Door Opener and Enhanced Smart Lock

Kwikset announced an expanded lineup of connected security solutions launching this fall, including the Kwikset FLEX Smart Garage Door Opener and Halo Select Plus deadbolt. These products represent significant advancements in residential access control, offering homeowners enhanced convenience, security, and integration capabilities.

The Kwikset FLEX Smart Garage Door Opener marks the company's first entry into the garage access category, available in two models with varying horsepower and features. Both models provide remote operation through the Kwikset app or vehicle integration with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or HomeLink. The FLEX 800 features a three-quarter horsepower motor with LED lighting, while the FLEX 1000B offers a one-horsepower motor, brighter lighting, and built-in battery backup. Both include quiet operation and Kwikset's patented anti-theft door release to prevent forced entry.

Jeff Sandoval, director of electronics marketing at Kwikset, stated that the FLEX opener complements their existing connected products to deliver a complete residential access control solution. This expansion into garage security addresses a critical entry point that has often been overlooked in comprehensive home security systems.

The Halo Select Plus smart lock introduces home key in Apple Wallet and Matter support, allowing homeowners to unlock doors with a simple tap of their iPhone or Apple Watch. Priced at $342, it builds upon the original Halo Select with remote access via the Kwikset app, built-in Wi-Fi, keyless entry with schedulable access codes, and a discreet door status sensor. The lock provides real-time notifications through an event log and tamper alerts, while integrating with Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, and Google Home for voice commands and automations.

Available in Satin Nickel and Matte Black finishes, the Halo Select Plus features a sleek, low-profile design and simple installation requiring only a screwdriver. Sandoval emphasized that the product puts choice and security in homeowners' hands through multiple access methods including home key, app control, voice commands, or personal codes.

Kwikset is also expanding the original Halo Select line with new style variants including Contemporary style available through Amazon and Lowe's, and Soft Modern style launching exclusively at The Home Depot. These join the existing Transitional style, providing homeowners with more design options to match their home aesthetics. The new variants are priced at $298.
