TBC Uzbekistan Expands Digital Banking Access to Foreign Nationals

TBC Bank Uzbekistan has expanded access to its digital banking services to non-residents living in or visiting Uzbekistan, marking a significant expansion of the country's leading digital banking ecosystem. Foreign nationals can now access TBC UZ's comprehensive range of digital banking products, including the flagship Salom Debit Card, deposits, transfers, and utility payments through the TBC UZ app. This expansion provides non-residents with the same seamless digital experience currently available to Uzbek citizens.

The move represents a strategic expansion for Central Asia's leading digital banking ecosystem as it continues scaling its presence in Uzbekistan by broadening product offerings and tapping new customer segments. TBC Uzbekistan already serves 21 million unique registered users, representing more than 50% of Uzbekistan's population. By opening services to non-residents, the digital banking powerhouse significantly widens its potential customer base while creating new opportunities for financial integration of highly-skilled expatriate workers, students, and entrepreneurs.

Nika Kurdiani, CEO of TBC Uzbekistan, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion, stating that the company is opening a new gateway to Uzbekistan's financial system for people who come to study, work, or build businesses. The expansion enables TBC Uzbekistan to tap into a sustainable new customer segment, potentially boosting customer loyalty and engagement while generating diversified revenue streams. This development also supports the growth of Uzbekistan's digital economy by providing foreign nationals with access to modern financial services.

New non-resident customers can register remotely through the TBC UZ app by completing an online application and verifying their identity using their international passport, proof of temporary registration in Uzbekistan, personal identification number, and local phone number. The onboarding process requires a meeting with a TBC representative to sign agreements, with current services available in Tashkent and planned nationwide expansion by year-end. The registration process is accessible through https://tbcuz.uz.

TBC Uzbekistan's digital ecosystem extends beyond banking services to include Payme, a digital payments app for individuals and small businesses available at https://payme.uz, TBC Nasiya for installment credit, and TBC Insurance for digital insurance offerings. The company achieved profitability within two years of launch, recording $62 million in operating income during the second quarter of 2025, with loan and deposit books growing 105% and 86% year-over-year respectively. This expansion to non-residents represents the latest step in TBC Uzbekistan's strategy to leverage Uzbekistan's low retail banking penetration and growing appetite for modern financial services among its young, digitally-savvy population.
