Hong Kong Technology Fairs to Showcase AI, Robotics and Smart Lighting Innovations

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is preparing to host four major technology fairs in October that will bring together more than 6,200 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions. These events represent significant gatherings for the global technology industry, with the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia running concurrently from October 13-16 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, followed by the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) from October 27-30 at the same venue, and the Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo from October 28-31 at AsiaWorld-Expo.

Sophia Chong, Acting Executive Director of the HKTDC, emphasized the strategic importance of these fairs, noting their alignment with recent government policy directions promoting artificial intelligence as a core industry for Hong Kong's future development. The timing coincides with measures proposed in the Chief Executive's Policy Address that aim to position Hong Kong as a technological innovation hub. These fairs provide a critical platform for industry exchange and international collaboration, particularly in advancing smart city development and technological innovation.

The Autumn Electronics Fair, celebrating its 45th edition, will feature more than 3,200 exhibitors under the theme "World's Leading Electronics Marketplace." A key focus will be on artificial intelligence and robotics, with special event spaces like RoboPark showcasing over 30 sessions featuring companies such as Booster Robotics and Unitree Robotics. Notable exhibits include DEEP Robotics' X30 Quadruped Robodog designed for inspection and search-and-rescue operations, and BrainCo's Revo2 bionic dexterous hand that simulates natural human hand movements. PaXini Tech will present a humanoid robot with advanced tactile sensing and AI vision capabilities.

The fair will also address emerging market needs through specialized zones focusing on the silver economy and digital entertainment. Exhibitors will showcase products like smart GPS walking canes with emergency alert systems for older adults, while the Immersive Experience zone will feature virtual reality, augmented reality, and AI-integrated entertainment options. New exhibition zones include RISE Avenue for emerging brands and Adventure Hub featuring local startups demonstrating oil-to-electric vehicle conversion technology.

Concurrent with the electronics fair, electronicAsia will showcase electronic components, power supplies, and manufacturing services with exhibitors like Australian company Masters & Young, which specializes in printed circuit board design for aerospace, medical, and renewable energy applications. The events will feature several forums, including the 10th Symposium on Innovation & Technology exploring robotics applications across land, sea, and sky, and seminars on advanced battery technology and AI-powered construction monitoring.

The lighting fairs, running under the theme "Illuminated Designs for a Smarter Future," will feature approximately 3,000 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge lighting solutions. The Hall of Connected Lighting will bring together 60 leading brands including GRE Alpha, Casambi from Finland, Moorgen from Germany, and Signify from the Netherlands. Exhibitors will present award-winning designs, such as Moorgen's smart switch developed with designer Chi Wing-lo that controls lighting, curtains, music, and air conditioning simultaneously.

Notably, several exhibitors have contributed to globally recognized projects, with GRE Alpha's LED drivers used in Singapore's Gardens by the Bay, Koizumi's fixtures applied at the Yumeshima Station for the World Expo in Osaka, and Casambi's control systems implemented at the Sanxingdui Museum, BBC's London headquarters, and Hong Kong's M+ Museum. The Outdoor and Tech Light Expo will highlight smart city innovations, including Unilumin Group's multi-functional Smart Light Pole that integrates lighting, Wi-Fi, EV charging, and environmental monitoring.

The fairs will adopt the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, combining physical events with online platforms like the Click2Match AI-driven business matching system. The online editions will extend the reach of these events, with the electronics fairs running from October 6-23 and lighting fairs from October 20 to November 7. This comprehensive approach facilitates global participation and business matching opportunities for industry professionals seeking to explore the latest technological advancements and market trends.
