Meals On Wheels Atlanta Golf Classic Generates $130,000 for Senior Nutrition Programs

The 25th Annual Golf Classic hosted by Meals On Wheels Atlanta at TPC Sugarloaf | A PGA TOUR Club successfully generated $130,000 in funding, which will support the delivery of more than 18,000 meals to homebound seniors throughout the Atlanta area. This milestone anniversary event attracted over 100 golfers and corporate partners who participated in championship-level play while supporting a vital community cause.

The funds raised through this tournament directly address the growing need for nutritional support among Atlanta's senior population. Each meal delivery serves as more than just nourishment—it represents a critical wellness check and social connection for seniors who might otherwise experience isolation. The impact extends beyond basic nutrition, as Meals On Wheels Atlanta also provides pet food through their pet pantry program, recognizing that many seniors consider their pets family members.

Charlene Crusoe-Ingram, CEO of Meals On Wheels Atlanta, emphasized the broader significance of these deliveries. "Beyond the food, each delivery is a caring connection that reminds our neighbors they are not alone," she stated. This dual approach to addressing both nutritional needs and social isolation represents a comprehensive strategy for supporting vulnerable seniors in maintaining their independence and quality of life.

Tournament Director Jamie Martin highlighted the community's enthusiastic participation, noting that "our golfers and sponsors showed up in force" and that their energy "translated directly into meals—and hope—for our senior neighbors." The success of this event was made possible through substantial corporate sponsorship from organizations including Sysco, Southern Company, 1792 Capital, and Northside Hospital, among others. The organization has expanded its fundraising efforts to include social enterprises like 1705WEST, Atlanta's premier event space with a purpose, and Purposeful Gourmet Foods, with all proceeds benefiting the meals program.

Looking ahead, Meals On Wheels Atlanta will host the 37th Annual A Meal to Remember on November 7, 2025, at Flourish, continuing their tradition of culinary galas that support senior nutrition programs. Since its founding in 1965, the organization has grown from a small soup kitchen to an institution that has delivered over six million lifesaving meals, while expanding services to include home repair, emergency food pantries, and additional support programs.

With 97% of Meals On Wheels Atlanta's funding coming from private donations each year, successful events like the Golf Classic are essential for maintaining and expanding services that allow seniors to age in place with dignity.
