The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) will stage two pavilions at GITEX Global 2025 from October 13 to 17 in Dubai, featuring 22 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence, robotics, IoT, and greentech. This marks the return of Hong Kong Tech Pavilions to the prominent tech exhibition since 2020, with the event expected to attract over 200,000 attendees from more than 180 countries, bringing together tech giants and innovative startups across multiple technology sectors.
The initiative comes as Middle Eastern countries have been actively developing their AI capabilities in recent years, leveraging unique advantages in low-cost energy and capital strength. Daniel Lam, Regional Director of the Middle East and Africa of the HKTDC, noted that the Hong Kong Tech Pavilions will connect promising Hong Kong innovation and technology enterprises with partners in the Middle East and beyond. This collaboration not only helps Hong Kong companies expand into international innovation markets but also attracts investors from the Middle East and worldwide to use Hong Kong as a gateway to China and the broader Asia region.
The timing aligns with Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee's recent Policy Address, which emphasized promoting the development of AI and data science industries, recognizing AI as the key driving force of the next wave of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. According to InvestHK's 2024 Startup Survey, Hong Kong's startup ecosystem has demonstrated remarkable vitality, with the number of startups surging to nearly 4,700, underscoring the region's potential to become a global hub for AI development due to its advantages in scientific research, capital, data, and talent.
Exhibitors at the Hong Kong Tech Pavilions will showcase diverse AI applications across multiple sectors. The HKSAR Environmental Protection Department will present its AI Environmental Air Nuisance Investigation Robot Dog and AI systems for monitoring noise and wastewater, demonstrating how artificial intelligence can enhance environmental assessment and planning. TradeMonday will feature its vertical GenAI SaaS platform that automates retail analytics and workflows, transforming data into profit-driving decisions with pre-trained AI agents. The company is backed by venture capital funds from Hong Kong, Turkiye, and the United States.
Chain Technology Development Co. Limited will showcase its award-winning Digital Twin solution that integrates AI, IoT data, and spatial intelligence to address needs in architecture, engineering, construction, and operation industries, contributing to smarter, safer, and more sustainable smart city development. Man Yue Electronics Company Limited will present as a manufacturer and supplier of high-quality electronic components with an emphasis on sustainability and carbon neutrality, reflecting the growing importance of environmental considerations in technology development.
In addition to the main GITEX Global exhibition, HKSTP will lead another pavilion at Expand North Star at Dubai Harbour from October 12 to 15, showcasing innovative solutions from 10 park companies. Participating startups will also compete in the Supernova Challenge pitching competition, while The Hong Kong Polytechnic University will showcase its technological achievements and business solutions. The HKTDC will organize 12 pitching sessions during GITEX Global, where participating companies will present their innovative solutions to investors, businesses, and government agencies.
To facilitate stronger networking connections between Hong Kong exhibitors and Middle Eastern and international markets, the HKTDC will host a networking dinner on October 14 together with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai, expecting around 80 industry representatives from local and international sectors. This comprehensive approach to business development reflects Hong Kong's strategic positioning as an international innovation and technology hub and its commitment to fostering global technological collaboration.
