Balfour Senior Living and CU Anschutz Launch Research Living Lab to Transform Aging Studies

Balfour Senior Living, a Kisco collection, has partnered with the University of Colorado Anschutz Multidisciplinary Center on Aging to launch a research community living lab at the Balfour Louisville campus. This initiative integrates CU Anschutz's research capabilities with Balfour's resident care expertise, creating an interactive environment where academic studies directly engage older adults in their living spaces. Residents can participate in studies, serve in advisory roles, and contribute to shaping advancements in aging and healthcare.

Dr. Cari Levy, Head of the division of Geriatrics at CU Anschutz, described the living lab as a transformative step in aging and healthcare approaches. The living lab offers various studies that residents may qualify for, including research on hearing and hypertension, neurophysiology related to walking, and more efficient methods for nurses and associates to support skilled nursing residents.

Resident Mary Stamp noted that participation keeps residents informed about research developments and allows contribution to future health improvements.
