The 3TC multi-sport facility in East Rochester has expanded its offerings with three new indoor pickleball courts, responding to what operators describe as tremendous demand for the sport in the Rochester area. The facility, known primarily as the home of Craig Demmin Soccer, now provides dedicated pickleball space under the name Pickleball @3TC, with courts available to the general public without membership requirements during weekday hours.
Operating hours for the pickleball courts are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Wednesday hours ending at 3 p.m. The courts feature an Omnicourt cushioned surface designed to provide consistent ball bounce, excellent traction, and shock absorption to minimize joint impact during play. Tom Curtin, who oversees pickleball operations at 3TC, noted the facility offers excellent lighting and generous court spacing, creating what he called a beautiful environment for the sport.
The facility will host Open Play sessions throughout operating hours, with specific time blocks from 7-9 a.m., 9 a.m.-12 p.m., and 1-4 p.m. (1-3 p.m. on Wednesdays). Session costs are set at $10 for two hours and $12 for three hours. Players can register through the Craig Demmin Soccer app, available at https://ROC3TC.com, where they can create accounts, view schedules, and reserve spots. To encourage new players, the facility offers a free first session when users download the app, create an account, and sign the required waiver.
Throughout December, 3TC is offering introductory bonuses for court time deposits. Players who deposit $50 into their accounts receive $60 in Open Play credits, while those depositing $100 receive $120 in credits. Attendance at Open Play sessions will be capped to ensure quality playing time, with two-hour sessions limited to 20 players and three-hour sessions capped at 24 participants.
Craig Demmin, owner and operator of 3TC and a Rochester Raging Rhinos soccer legend with 12 years of professional experience, described the pickleball addition as an ideal complement to existing soccer programs. The 20,000 square-foot facility at 920 Linden Avenue has traditionally focused on soccer camps, leagues, and specialized training that draws players from across the region. Demmin emphasized that pickleball's growing popularity created a need for more indoor court space in Rochester, and the facility aims to serve the local pickleball community while maintaining its soccer programming.
The expansion represents a strategic response to changing recreational trends, as pickleball continues to gain popularity across demographic groups for its accessibility and social aspects. By converting existing space within a multi-sport facility, 3TC demonstrates how established sports venues can adapt to emerging athletic interests while maintaining their core offerings. The no-membership requirement and introductory offers suggest an effort to lower barriers to entry for new players, potentially expanding the sport's participant base in the Rochester area during winter months when outdoor play becomes challenging.
