The 52nd HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, 17th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair and 24th Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running for four days. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the three fairs under the theme 'New Play for All' bring together exhibitors and buyers from around the world, creating networking opportunities and fostering cross-regional trade cooperation.
HKTDC Deputy Executive Director Jenny Koo noted that the fairs have attracted more than 2,600 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, including new participants from Bangladesh, New Zealand and Norway. The HKTDC has organized over 200 buyer missions from more than 40 countries and regions, inviting major e-commerce platforms, importers, department stores, specialty retailers and retail chains alongside traditional distributors.
Several key product trends are emerging from this year's exhibitions. The pop culture and collectible toys market continues to grow, with the new 'Pop & Play' pavilion featuring around 150 famous local and international IPs including B.Duck, Hot Toys and threezero. The pavilion will showcase fair premieres and global limited-edition collectibles such as MOMOLAND's debut dolls, TUTU MOKEY collectible figurines limited to 100 pieces, and Mazinger Z Playing Cards limited to 1,500 sets worldwide. Visitors can explore the pavilion at https://www.hktdc.com/event/hktoyfair/en/pop-play.
With ageing populations becoming a global reality, toys and games designed for seniors or intergenerational family fun represent a rapidly growing category. More than 40 exhibitors will adopt the new Happy Ageing label, showcasing products like color-sorting exercises that train finger muscles and companion plush toys that alleviate loneliness for seniors.
Sustainable products are stimulating demand as more parents opt for eco-friendly toys. More than 400 exhibitors across the toys and stationery events display the Green Solutions label this year, representing approximately 10% growth compared to 2025. In the Green Toys zone, one exhibitor presents the Beach Life OBP Material Beach Funnel Set crafted from ocean bound plastic, transforming potential ocean pollution into engaging toys. At the Baby Products Fair, an exhibitor showcases baby push walker toys certified under FSC and Global Recycling Standard (GRS) standards.
Many parents favor products that enhance children's cognitive development through play, driving demand for educational products. Exhibits include Canadarm toys that allow children to assemble and operate robotic arms, and a 2-in-1 Digital Microscope & Telescope integrating STEM natural sciences into toys. Korean film and TV-related products have become a new focus, with exhibits featuring characters from KPop Demon Hunters and the Gonggi Tossing Game from Squid Game Season 2.
The inaugural 'Pop & Play' pavilion features interactive elements including photo opportunities, creative exchanges and autograph sessions with renowned artists and designers. On January 14, the thematic seminar 'Explosive Growth of IP Economy: from Local Success to Global Reach' will feature Maxim Wang, Head of Toys Category at Alibaba 1688, and Leung Man Lai Lily, CEO and Co-Founder of Nikopicto Limited, discussing business opportunities in the collectible toy industry.
This year's Asia Toys & Games Forum, themed 'Empowering the Toy Industry for Global Success,' includes presentations on market outlook by Euromonitor International, global IP ecosystem strategies by Disney Consumer Products, and product certification for global market access by SGS Hong Kong Limited. Additional seminars cover toy safety regulations, marketing strategies incorporating AI and robotics, and trends in modern childcare products.
The three exhibitions operate under the EXHIBITION+ model, combining physical access with the Click2Match smart-matching platform for online business meetings. The online exhibition will be accessible from January 5 to 22, 2026, with Scan2Match functionality allowing buyers to bookmark exhibitors and engage during and after the fair.
