VYRE Network, a free global streaming platform dedicated to empowering filmmakers, television creators, and athletes, announced a strategic partnership with filmmaker and showrunner Dr. Greg Carter, founder of Nexus Entertainment. Under the agreement, Dr. Carter will guide VYRE's curated content strategy across Texas and adjacent regional markets, emphasizing high-quality feature films, television series, docu-series, and live special events.
Dr. Carter brings more than two decades of experience as a creator, director, producer, and showrunner, with credits including over 30 feature films and multiple network television projects. His notable works include Lucky Girl, My B.F.F., One Crazy Christmas, Hip Hop Family Christmas, and Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding, the latter produced with Jamie Foxx and Foxxhole Entertainment. He also served as creator and showrunner of the AMC Networks dramatic series 5th Ward and has worked as a line producer on projects such as A Boy. A Girl. A Dream. and Safe Space. Dr. Carter is currently a professor at the University of Houston Valenti School of Communication.
Through this partnership, Dr. Carter will collaborate with VYRE Network's executive programming team to curate, develop, and supervise production of regional content, establish strategic creator and studio relationships, package select projects with development guidance, and expand VYRE's footprint as a destination for culturally relevant storytelling. He will also focus on discovering and developing filmmakers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) in the Southern Region.
Dr. Carter stated that his mission is to empower regional creators by providing pathways to funding, development, production oversight, and worldwide exposure. He emphasized that Houston and the surrounding region are rich with untold stories and creative voices, and this initiative aims to cultivate those voices and bring them to global audiences. Lamar Seay, co-founder and chief content officer of VYRE Network, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting Dr. Carter's talent and experience.
As part of the initiative, Dr. Carter will lead educational and professional development sessions for Texas-based creators, offering practical insight into project financing, deal structure, pitching, packaging, and navigating distribution pathways. This aligns with VYRE's mission to empower creators beyond distribution alone. Beginning in 2026, audiences will be able to stream curated titles from Nexus Entertainment and select regional acquisitions free on the VYRE app across various platforms, including Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and via the web at https://vyre.tv.
This partnership strengthens VYRE Network's position as a scalable platform for premium independent content while providing Nexus Entertainment and regional creators with global distribution, audience reach, and strategic infrastructure. VYRE Network, launched in 2019, is dedicated to serving the next generation of entertainment professionals by providing tools and opportunities for success through global distribution, film financing, and production support. By championing diverse voices and groundbreaking content, VYRE continues to redefine the entertainment landscape, helping filmmakers and athletes turn their visions into reality on a global scale.
