Emerald Cruises & Tours has completed successful sea trials for its new super yacht Emerald Kaia in Halong Bay, Vietnam, bringing the vessel closer to its scheduled April 2026 service entry. The trials confirmed the yacht's performance, maneuverability, and seaworthiness ahead of its inaugural 11-day sailing from Limassol, Cyprus, on April 4, 2026.
The completion of sea trials represents a significant operational milestone for Scenic Group, Emerald's parent company. James Griffiths, Scenic Group General Manager of Ocean Operations, stated that the trials delivered excellent results, allowing the team to proceed confidently with final commissioning. This progress underscores the company's commitment to quality and innovation in luxury travel experiences.
Emerald Kaia is designed as a boutique super yacht accommodating only 128 guests, featuring expansive lounges, terraces, and decks with Missoni decor. New interconnecting suites provide flexibility for families and groups, while generously sized staterooms offer contemporary comfort. The yacht introduces several innovative spaces, including an all-new Observation Sun Deck with an additional spa pool, sun loungers, and shaded areas for enjoying coastal views.
Wellness features include an innovative indoor/outdoor gym with state-of-the-art equipment adjacent to the marina platform, allowing guests to exercise with sea air and swim directly from the platform. Culinary enhancements debut with a redesigned signature restaurant La Cucina featuring a vibrant open kitchen, plus the new Night Market Grill offering intimate private dining for eight guests at additional cost.
Following sea trials, Emerald Kaia will undergo final fittings and delivery before joining sister yachts Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara in the Emerald Yacht Cruises fleet. The vessel's launch precedes future additions Emerald Raiya in 2027 and Emerald Xara in 2028, signaling Scenic Group's continued expansion in luxury yacht cruising. The company's broader portfolio includes Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours and Mayflower Cruises & Tours, with operations spanning all seven continents.
The successful sea trials and upcoming deployment demonstrate the growing market for intimate luxury yacht experiences with innovative amenities. Emerald Kaia's Mediterranean itineraries will compete in the premium cruise segment, offering travelers an alternative to larger vessels with personalized service and unique design elements.
