U.S. Term Limits has appointed former New Hampshire State Representative Linda Massimilla as the organization's New Hampshire State Co-Chair, where she will serve alongside former State Senate President Chuck Morse. The announcement positions Massimilla as a key figure in the state's growing movement to enact congressional term limits through a constitutional amendment process.
Massimilla brings extensive public service experience to the role, having served as an elementary school teacher, adjunct faculty member at Plymouth State University, and as a state representative for Grafton 1. Her appointment signals U.S. Term Limits' commitment to leveraging local political expertise in their national campaign. "I am honored to serve as the New Hampshire State Co-Chair for U.S. Term Limits and eager to work with Senator Morse on this issue," Massimilla stated.
The former representative emphasized the broad public support for congressional term limits, noting that polls show over 80% of Americans favor such measures regardless of political affiliation. "Now more than ever before, the need for term limits is crystal clear," Massimilla said. "Polls show that one issue that unites all citizens regardless of political affiliation is the need for congressional term limits. Over 80% of Americans want congressional term limits enacted at once to bring true reform to our government and end the dysfunction of entrenched ways that we see in Washington, D.C. daily."
Massimilla framed the term limits movement within the constitutional framework established by the Founding Fathers, arguing that the current political climate warrants using the amendment process. "When government ceases to work for we the people, the Founding Fathers included a constitutional amendment process to be used by the states to right the country," she continued. "If the times we live in don't warrant this usage, then when does?" She concluded by asserting that "The Granite State is ready to stand and counted in the fight for congressional term limits."
Philip Blumel, President of U.S. Term Limits, expressed confidence in Massimilla's leadership, stating, "We are honored to have Representative Massimilla leading our efforts in New Hampshire with Senator Morse to pass term limits for Congress. Under their guidance, I am confident we will get our term limits resolution passed in New Hampshire." The organization, which describes itself as the largest grassroots term limits advocacy group in the country, focuses on connecting supporters with legislators and working to pass term limits at all levels of government, with particular emphasis on the U.S. Congress. The appointment comes as New Hampshire joins a growing number of states considering term limits resolutions. Massimilla's background includes recognition for her legislative work on child sex trafficking and veterans' issues, having received a Women of Excellence Award from the National Foundation of Women Legislators and the Pollyanna Signature Award from her hometown of Littleton. Her involvement adds credibility to the term limits movement in New Hampshire and suggests a strategic approach to building bipartisan support for the initiative.
