Sha-La Music announced the April 3 release of DownTown Mystic's 'On E Street Remix' EP, featuring drummer Max Weinberg and bassist Garry Tallent from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. The six-track EP will be distributed worldwide by The Orchard/Sony Music and arrives at Non-Com/College Radio on April 7 with Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music handling radio promotion.
The EP includes tracks such as 'Way To Know,' 'And You Know Why,' and the lead single 'Hard Enough,' which has received substantial worldwide radio airplay with its video surpassing 550,000 views on YouTube. Also featured are 'Sometimes Wrong,' remastered by Leon Zervos, and the new instrumental 'And You Know Why (TV Mix).' The collaboration marks a significant rarity as Weinberg and Tallent recorded together as a rhythm section for an artist other than Bruce Springsteen.
DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen's primary goal was to give the tracks a fresh sound while showcasing the E Street musicians' brilliance. The recordings originated during the same period Weinberg and Tallent were working on Springsteen's landmark 'Born In The USA' album, adding historical weight to the project. Allen and engineer Joe DeMaio revisited these sessions at Shorefire Studios, where the tracks were originally recorded. "I was trying to develop as a solo artist when we made these recordings," Allen recalled. "The experience of playing with Max & Garry changed everything for me."
The EP arrives as DownTown Mystic continues building momentum with a series of releases that blend vintage sounds with modern rock sensibilities. His "vintage yet modern" approach has gained recognition in music circles, beginning with 2023's 'AmeriKarma' album that attracted over 3 million streams, followed by 'RnR 4 The Soul' (2024), 'The Wish' (2025), and 'Mystic Highway' (2025). The artist's sync licensing career launched with 'Way To Know' appearing in over 250 TV shows, starting with 'The Voice,' and reached a high point in 2025 with three songs placed in the films 'Sovereign' and 'Everything's Going To Be Great.'
Music publications have noted the significance of the release. Stereo Stickman described DownTown Mystic as "always the master of delivering the unexpected in a cool and satisfying, true rock and roll fashion," while College Radio Charts observed that the artist "isn't chasing trends or polishing museum pieces" but rather "making rock & roll that remembers where it came from while still sounding alive, relevant, and ready for another spin." Jamsphere Magazine noted that the sync success "reflects songwriting that translates across contexts, music that carries cinematic weight and emotional clarity," and The Big Takeover commented that "you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep: DownTown Mystic demonstrably keeps the very best company."
The EP represents both a historical connection to rock's legacy and contemporary relevance in today's music landscape. As Allen noted, "If you want to make a rock'n'roll statement then who better to do it with? I think E Street is probably the most famous street in rock'n'roll history."
