SS Innovations International, Inc., a developer of surgical robotic technologies, announced that its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system has been approved for telesurgeries in Indonesia and the Philippines. The company also reported successfully completing more than 150 cumulative telesurgeries using the system, primarily in India. This expansion into new Southeast Asian markets represents a significant step in making robotic surgery more accessible globally.
The approval for telesurgeries in Indonesia and the Philippines enables remote surgical procedures where surgeons can operate on patients from different locations using the SSi Mantra system. This technology addresses geographical barriers to specialized healthcare, particularly in regions with limited access to expert surgeons. The system's capabilities were demonstrated through recent achievements, including 18 inter-hospital telesurgeries performed between two Indian cities during an eight-hour period on February 14, 2026.
During that February demonstration, Dr. Mohit Bhandari from Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics in Indore performed 13 gastric bypass procedures, while Dr. Priya Bhave Chittawar from HER Health Hospital in Bhopal conducted 5 complex gynecological surgeries. These procedures utilized the SSi MantrAsana Tele Surgeon Console, a compact chair-based version of the larger command center that offers portability and requires less space, facilitating telesurgeries from various settings including physician offices.
This achievement followed an earlier robotic telesurgery marathon on December 23, 2025, where nine surgeons performed 24 telesurgeries within 12 hours on patients across multiple Indian locations. Those procedures included ten different types of surgeries, including intricate cardiac operations. The company's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, stated that the SSi Mantra system is pioneering telesurgery in real-world practice with growing adoption by leading physicians.
The SSi Mantra system features modular robotic arms, an ergonomic surgeon command center, a 3D 4K monitor, and supports over 40 different types of robotic endo-surgical instruments for various specialties including cardiac surgery. The system has been clinically validated in India for more than 100 different surgical procedures. Additional information about the company is available at https://ssinnovations.com.
SS Innovations will host the Global Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference 2026 in New Delhi from April 9-11, 2026, where more than 20 live telesurgeries will be performed using the SSi Mantra system across multiple specialties. Conference registration is available through the company's website. The expansion of telesurgery capabilities into new markets and the growing number of successful procedures indicate increasing traction for remote surgical technologies that could transform healthcare delivery by enabling expertise sharing across geographical boundaries.
