Canadian broadcaster New Tang Dynasty Television (Canada) has finalized an agreement with bestselling author John Moody, his publisher Brick Tower Press, and production companies Washington Square Entertainment, Fun Republic Pictures, and Yonderland Productions to develop a scripted drama series based on Moody's acclaimed Hui Trilogy. The series, currently titled Of Course They Knew..., is being developed as part of NTD's expanding slate of premium scripted drama with international appeal, in association with the Canada Media Fund.
The geopolitical conspiracy thriller explores the silent collapse of Western society as it falls under the influence of a covert global campaign driven by disinformation, artificial intelligence, and psychological warfare. Told through the intertwined lives of ordinary citizens across multiple continents, the series examines how truth itself becomes the most dangerous weapon in a new kind of global conflict. The television adaptation is being developed as a multi-season dramatic series under the working title Of Course They Knew..., with International Emmy-nominated David Cormican and Emmy-nominated Dwayne Hill attached to co-write and executive produce.
David Cormican, who will serve as showrunner alongside Dwayne Hill, stated that partnering with NTD on Of Course They Knew... allows them to bring an urgent and deeply relevant story to the screen at a time when the boundaries between information, propaganda, and power have never been more blurred. Cormican noted that John Moody's trilogy reads like tomorrow's headlines and believes it has the scope and scale to become a truly global television event. Author John Moody, whose career as a journalist and editor has spanned decades of American political history, added that this story was written as a warning, but it has become increasingly clear that the world is moving closer to the reality it imagines. Moody expressed pride in working with his agent Alan Morell at Creative Management Partners and the production team to bring the Hui Trilogy to television in a way that captures both its scale and urgency. The development and rights agreement was negotiated by Alan Morell of Creative Management Partners on behalf of the rights holders, together with Washington Square Entertainment, Yonderland Productions, Brick Tower Press and NTD.
