34th Hong Kong International Optical Fair Spotlights Smart Eyewear and Silver Economy

The 34th Hong Kong International Optical Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organized by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association, opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running from November 4 to 6, the fair hosts more than 600 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions under the theme "Bright Eyes-New Horizons." The event showcases innovations in smart technology, eye care, and functional design, reflecting an industry increasingly shaped by sustainability, health awareness, and the rise of the silver economy.

Patrick Yeung, Council Member of the HKTDC, noted that global markets are evolving rapidly, with sustainability, innovation, the silver economy, and increased health awareness emerging as key growth drivers. Smilely Lam, HKTDC Acting Executive Director, emphasized the fair's role as a dynamic marketplace, with buying missions from 34 countries and regions, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, France, the United Kingdom, and Brazil. These missions facilitate trade cooperation and market information exchange.

The fair features exhibitors from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, and across Asia, Europe, and the United States. The Brand Name Gallery showcases some 200 renowned brands, while specialized zones like Smart Eyewear, Designer Village, and Innovation Hub offer a comprehensive view of industry trends. Highlighted products include AI Memory Glasses from Hong Kong's Lawaken Technology, which feature a detachable magnetic camera and AI-powered meeting summarization, and the LYNNS MASK BY JLX STUDIO MADE fashion eyewear collection from Wenzhou Lynns Design.

Three thematic labels—Smart Ageing Products, Smart Eyewear, and Green Solutions—help buyers identify trend-aligned products. Under Smart Ageing, Divel Italia presents progressive lenses for seniors, and Best Power (HK) Enterprises showcases Swap-Battery Bone Conduction Hearing Glasses. Smart Eyewear innovations include Sichuan Yingmu Technology's INMO Air3 with Sony Micro OLED display and Shenzhen GetD Technology's GSPRO series with health monitoring and AI translation. Green Solutions feature Brevno's eco-friendly frames and Greatland Enterprise's frames made from recycled fishing nets. The Green Booth Design Competition awarded Eyestar Limited the Gold Award.

The 24th Hong Kong International Optometric Symposium, held on November 5, will focus on "Primary Eye Care in Action: Elevating Clinical Scope and Community Impact." Seven experts from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States will discuss topics such as pediatric eye care and dry eye management. The symposium is accredited by the Optometrists Board of Hong Kong, offering up to six Continuing Professional Development hours.

The 26th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition, themed "Mix & Match," recognized outstanding designs, with award-winning entries on display at the fair.
