A Plus Landscaping, a family-owned design-build company based in Reinholds, Pennsylvania, has announced that it builds LED path, step, and uplighting systems directly into its hardscape projects. The integration allows homeowners in Central Pennsylvania to use patios, walkways, and outdoor gathering areas well after sunset, extending the functional hours of spaces that would otherwise go dark at the end of the day.
Without lighting, walkways, stairs, and grade changes become difficult to navigate once natural light fades. Path and step lighting addresses this by using low, directional fixtures placed along a walkway or at the edge of each step to define the walking surface without producing glare that would reduce visibility across the rest of the yard. A Plus Landscaping designs lighting alongside the hardscape project itself, with wiring and fixture planning taking place within the same design-build process used for patios, pools, and outdoor kitchens.
Uplighting directs light upward from ground level to draw attention to a specific feature, such as a mature tree, a stone retaining wall, or the facade of the house. This technique gives a property depth and dimension at night that standard porch or floodlight fixtures do not produce. For homeowners who have invested in landscaping or outdoor living features, uplighting keeps those elements visible after dark rather than allowing them to disappear into shadow.
Outdoor hardscape lighting performs most effectively when it is integrated into the structure during construction rather than mounted on top of it afterward. A Plus Landscaping plans fixtures into seat walls, pillars, and steps as part of the construction process itself, resulting in a light source that reads as part of the structure rather than an added fixture. Homeowners who later want to incorporate a water feature or expand the hardscape lighting layout can discuss those options with their Design Professional.
LED landscape lighting for South Central PA properties runs on low-voltage systems designed and installed by A Plus Landscaping. Low-voltage wiring routes safely through garden beds and beneath hardscape without the installation requirements associated with line-voltage systems. LED fixtures are a standard choice for landscape lighting today, and A Plus Landscaping configures each system to fit the scope of the property, from patio and walkway fixtures to tree uplighting and integrated hardscape lighting.
The announcement matters for homeowners planning outdoor projects because lighting is often an afterthought, leading to added costs and less seamless results when retrofitted. By embedding lighting design into the initial build, A Plus Landscaping aims to deliver safer, more functional, and visually appealing outdoor spaces from the start. This approach also aligns with growing demand for energy-efficient LED solutions and extended outdoor living, particularly in regions where warmer months invite evening gatherings. Homeowners planning a new patio, pool, or outdoor living project can request a quote to include lighting design within the same design-build process A Plus Landscaping uses for construction.
