Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK) announced on June 24, 2026, the commencement of a 2,800-meter diamond drilling program at its Andong Bor copper-gold target in Cambodia. The program is staged around the Cambodian seasons, with an initial 1,200 meters in three holes starting during the current dry-season window, and the remaining 1,600 meters planned for early 2027 once fields are dry and crops harvested.
The drilling will focus on the Thmei North (TN) target, a one-square-kilometer copper anomaly within the 100.28-square-kilometer Andong Bor license, which straddles Oddar Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey provinces. Based on results from 2025 drilling, the main structures controlling mineralization are north-northwest striking and steeply west dipping. The three initial holes will be drilled to the east to better intersect the mineralized beds, maximizing interceptions of potassic-altered sediments adjacent to feldspar porphyry diorite dikes.
Dennis Ouellette, VP Exploration, explained: “Our 2025 drilling told us how this system is oriented. The structures controlling mineralization are north-northwest striking and steeply west dipping, so by drilling to the east we put the core across the mineralized beds rather than down them. The best copper sits in the potassic-altered sediments next to the feldspar porphyry diorite dikes, and an eastward orientation lets us cut the most of that favorable host as we pass in and out of the intrusive dikes.”
The first phase consists of three 400-meter holes, with core to be logged, photographed, and sampled, and selected intervals dispatched for assay as the program progresses. The second phase of 1,600 meters will follow in early 2027. At the Thmei South target, further auger soil geochemistry is required to extend the existing copper geochemical anomaly southward, and it will be the focus of subsequent drill programs.
This drilling program represents a significant step in advancing Angkor’s mineral exploration in Cambodia, a country with growing mining potential. The company holds two mineral exploration licenses in Cambodia through its subsidiary Angkor Gold Corp. Co., Ltd., with multiple copper and gold prospects. Success at Andong Bor could contribute to the development of Cambodia's mineral resources, attracting further investment and providing economic benefits to local communities.
In addition to its mineral projects, Angkor’s energy subsidiary EnerCam Resources Co., Ltd. holds an onshore oil and gas license in Block VIII, covering approximately 4,095 km². EnerCam completed 2D-seismic in 2025 and has identified multiple drill targets. An Environmental Impact Assessment has been submitted for approval, and the company plans to drill Cambodia’s first privately financed onshore exploratory oil and gas wells under a Production Sharing Contract.
