Wellington, FL – BarnPilot, a connected operating platform for equestrian sport, has announced the development of the Watcher system and Sentinel program, designed to integrate horse monitoring into its broader equestrian command center. The new features aim to address the fragmentation of horse care information, which is often scattered across multiple apps and platforms.
Scott Morvay, founder and principal developer of BarnPilot, emphasized that the goal is to bring together schedules, health records, ride data, barn cameras, and communication into one cohesive system. "I did not set out to build another app with a list of horse profiles," Morvay said. "I spent several years inside show jumping and experienced the same pain points riders and owners deal with every day. The schedule, records, ride, camera, and people responsible for the horse were all separated. I turned those problems into BarnPilot and kept building."
BarnPilot's monitoring experience begins with Camera Focus, a dedicated view for supported fixed barn cameras, allowing owners to check live feeds, monitor status, and review alerts without leaving the platform. The Watcher system provides ongoing awareness through Equine Watcher for horse-specific monitoring and Farm Watch for broader visibility of people, vehicles, animals, and packages. Sentinel, on the other hand, allows users to set a specific visible condition to monitor for 24 hours, with alerts triggered when the camera sees a match.
"Watcher is the ongoing watch; Sentinel is the focused watch," Morvay explained. "With Sentinel, the owner defines the condition that matters in their own words. The system is not asked to make a medical judgment. It is asked to help watch for something specific and visible."
It is important to note that BarnPilot's monitoring features are informational and do not diagnose conditions such as colic, illness, injury, or predict foaling. They are not a substitute for in-person observation or veterinary care. Factors like lighting, camera position, and network conditions can affect visibility.
The integration of monitoring into BarnPilot's existing platform is significant because it connects to a wider ecosystem that includes horse-centered records, Ride Journal with GPS tracking, and BarnPilot Navigator for equestrian-specific navigation. The platform also offers Horse Prospects for organizing horse searches and AI-assisted tools for reviewing records and preparing questions for professionals.
BarnPilot's interface is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German, with a live voice-translation workflow to facilitate communication across languages, a common need in the equestrian industry.
Wellington, Florida, where BarnPilot is based, is a hub for equestrian activity, and Morvay noted that the community has helped shape the development of the platform. "Wellington makes the need visible," he said. "This sport runs on skilled people, but too often those people are forced to work around fragmented technology. BarnPilot is my effort to build the infrastructure around them and around the horse."
Currently, BarnPilot works with supported third-party fixed cameras. Morvay is also developing an equine-specific camera detection model and purpose-built camera hardware, as well as a desktop experience. These are development projects and not yet available.
"The future of horse monitoring is not just another camera on a stall wall," Morvay said. "It is a connected system that helps the right person see the right thing, with the horse's wider context close at hand. That is what we are building."
