BOXABL Unveils Rego-Brix Lunar Radiation Shielding Concept Using Moon Soil

BOXABL has introduced Rego-Brix, a modular radiation-shielding concept designed to utilize lunar regolith to help protect future moon habitats from galactic cosmic radiation. Presented in the company's video, 'DON'T DIE ON THE MOON (Part 2) — Rego-Brix by BOXABL,' the concept features foldable, nestable components that can be transported efficiently and filled on-site with locally sourced lunar material to create protective barriers around living quarters, reducing the need to launch shielding materials from Earth.

Rego-Brix is envisioned as a companion system to BOXABL's UFO foldable habitat concept, creating a potential framework for deployable off-world housing paired with locally sourced radiation shielding. BOXABL said it holds patents related to the Rego-Brix concept and intends to make the technology available on a royalty-free basis. The company is currently completing its merger with FG Merger II Corp. (NASDAQ: FGMC), which is expected to result in the combined company trading on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol BXBL.

This announcement matters because it addresses a critical challenge for long-term lunar habitation: protection from harmful cosmic radiation. Without adequate shielding, astronauts face increased cancer risks and equipment degradation. By using lunar regolith—the loose soil and rock on the moon's surface—the Rego-Brix concept could eliminate the need to transport heavy shielding materials from Earth, significantly reducing mission costs and enabling sustainable lunar bases. The royalty-free licensing could also spur broader adoption and innovation in space construction.

BOXABL is primarily known for its terrestrial modular housing solutions, including the Casita, a 361-square-foot studio unit that unfolds on-site in less than an hour, and the Baby Box, a smaller 120-square-foot unit built to RV code. The company is also developing stackable and connectable box models for townhomes and multifamily units. The Rego-Brix concept extends this modular approach to space, showcasing the company's versatility and long-term vision.

The merger with FG Merger II Corp., a special purpose acquisition company, is expected to provide BOXABL with public market access and capital to advance its technologies. For investors, the development of off-world applications could open new revenue streams beyond the housing market. As space agencies and private companies plan lunar missions, technologies like Rego-Brix could become integral to infrastructure development.
