In response to the recent chemical incident and subsequent evacuations in Garden Grove, Chef Nourish has launched the Garden Grove Prepared Meal Support program to provide ready-to-heat, chef-prepared meals for affected residents with special dietary needs. The program waives delivery fees on prepared meal orders for households impacted by the evacuation or temporary displacement, ensuring access to food that accommodates conditions such as diabetes, celiac disease, heart disease, and food allergies.
Chef LaLa, founder of Chef Nourish, emphasized that standard emergency food options often fail to meet the needs of individuals who require specific diets for health or cultural reasons. “Emergency food is not one-size-fits-all,” she said. “Being away from home does not pause diabetes, heart disease, kidney concerns, food allergies, celiac disease, autoimmune issues, pregnancy nutrition, sensory food needs, athletic training, cultural food traditions, religious food practices, or the way a family has learned to eat to stay healthy.”
The company, which serves Los Angeles and Orange County, can accommodate 15 dietary categories, including diabetic-conscious, low-sodium, gluten-free, dairy-free, allergy-aware, senior-friendly, high-protein, macro-balanced, anti-inflammatory, vegetarian, and culturally diverse meals. Chef Nourish also provides family-friendly meals, responder performance meals, and hotel-friendly ready-to-heat options for those temporarily without kitchen access.
Chef Nourish is a woman-owned, veteran-owned, minority-owned small business that prepares and delivers thousands of meals weekly. The program is designed to support not only displaced families but also seniors, caregivers, hotel guests, first responders, and organizations assisting with the recovery. Affected households can call (323) 909-8933 and mention “Garden Grove Prepared Meal Support” to coordinate delivery.
Chef LaLa noted that the initiative complements the broader relief efforts by the American Red Cross, Orange County agencies, and local volunteers. “Our goal is simple: we want affected families to know they have an option,” she said. “If you are displaced, staying in a hotel, caring for a senior parent, supporting a child with special needs, managing a health condition, or trying to stay healthy through a stressful moment, Chef Nourish is here to help.”
The service area includes Garden Grove, Orange County, Los Angeles County, and surrounding Southern California communities. Community members, businesses, and organizations interested in sponsoring meals for families with special dietary needs can also contact Chef Nourish directly.
