South Lake Karate Academy is celebrating 25 years of service in Clermont, Florida, by introducing expanded, age-structured curriculum offerings for students aged four through adults. Founder Sensei Chad Love, a 6th-degree black belt with more than 40 years of martial arts experience, announced the milestone alongside the new programs, which are designed to meet the developmental needs of each age group.
The Academy's structured curriculum includes the Young Warriors program for younger children, focusing on foundational movement, listening skills, and basic self-defense. As students progress, the training advances in technical depth and personal expectations. The Adult Warriors program addresses the physical and mental demands of adult learners, incorporating stress management, physical conditioning, and goal-setting through practice. This approach reflects Love's philosophy that martial arts training should meet students where they are developmentally, physically, and emotionally.
Love's journey to a 6th-degree black belt began over 40 years ago under strict traditional standards that emphasized mental and emotional growth alongside physical development. Each rank required years of refinement and a demonstrated ability to lead. When he established South Lake Karate Academy 25 years ago, his goal was to provide Clermont families with disciplined, character-focused martial arts training grounded in a defined philosophy.
"I started this school because martial arts gave me something I could not find anywhere else, and I wanted to give that to families here in Clermont," said Chad Love, Founder and Head Instructor. "Over 25 years, I have watched more than a thousand students walk through that door and leave more capable, more confident, and more resilient than when they came in. That is the only number that matters to me."
The Academy's philosophy centers on using physical training as a vehicle to develop confidence, discipline, respect, and mental fortitude. Belt ranks serve as markers of internal development as well as technical skill. Central Florida families have enrolled multiple generations at the Academy, with some parents now bringing their children to train where they once trained themselves, illustrating the lasting community relationships built over 25 years.
Love holds his 6th-degree black belt as both a credential and a commitment, demonstrating that the standards he applies to students are those he has applied to himself for over four decades. As a karate instructor in Clermont, FL, his rank places him among a small group of practitioners at that level in the region, and he continues to train actively alongside his students.
The expanded curriculum offerings are now in effect, with enrollment open for all age groups at the Academy's Clermont location. For more information, visit South Lake Karate Academy.
