On July 12, 2026, Club Honduras International held its first event outside of Honduras at the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International in Hollywood, California. The event was dedicated to celebrating Honduran Indigenous Women, descendants of the Mayans and other native Indian peoples. The program featured traditional music and dance performances, a theatrical presentation highlighting the lives, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous Honduran women, and an awards ceremony recognizing Indigenous women and individuals whose work has contributed to preserving and promoting Honduras' Indigenous cultures.
Attendees also had the opportunity to view traditional work tools on display, as well as the country's trade items, including cacao beans and coffee beans. During the event, the Consulate of Honduras in Los Angeles received a Commendation in recognition of its support for the Honduran community and its efforts to foster cultural awareness and engagement. The program also included an Award recognizing humanitarian and author L. Ron Hubbard for his book, The Way to Happiness, a nonreligious guide promoting values such as respect, honesty, and compassion, which organizers said has been shared in Hispanic communities around the world.
Organizers intend the celebration to become an annual tradition, providing an opportunity to honor the contributions of Honduran Indigenous women and increase appreciation for the country's rich cultural heritage and traditions. The Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre International remains dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and promoting global harmony through meaningful events like these. The Scientology religion was founded by author and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard. The first Church of Scientology was formed in Los Angeles in 1954, and the religion has expanded to more than 11,000 Churches, Missions, and affiliated groups, with millions of members in 167 countries.
This inaugural event marks a significant step for Club Honduras International in its mission to promote Honduran culture abroad. By honoring Indigenous women, the celebration highlights the vital role these women play in preserving the country's traditions and heritage. The recognition of the Consulate of Honduras underscores the importance of diplomatic support in fostering cultural awareness among Honduran communities in the United States. Additionally, the acknowledgment of L. Ron Hubbard's work reflects the event's broader focus on universal values that resonate across cultures. As the event is planned to become an annual tradition, it promises to strengthen ties between Honduras and the global community, offering a platform for cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
