Dr. Catherine A. Oleksiw has built a career on a simple but powerful belief: every person has a gift. That conviction has guided her through roles as an executive coach, educator, consultant, and academic leader. Now, as she prepares for her next chapter, she aims to expand her reach with organizations, leaders, doctoral students, and professionals who sense they are capable of more but may not yet know what their next step looks like.
Oleksiw is the founder of Measured Transitions LLC, a firm that works with organizations on leadership, organizational change, performance, and evaluation. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Measurement and Evaluation from Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and has spent the past six years serving in academic leadership at The Chicago School. Her work has included coaching executives, developing emerging leaders, advising nonprofit organizations, teaching graduate students, and chairing dissertation committees.
In a statement, Oleksiw described her career as nonlinear, following opportunities where she believed she could make an impact. “Every experience taught me something new, but one truth has remained constant. Relationships matter. People are the greatest resource we have,” she said. That philosophy underpins her approach to leadership development, which she says should not begin only when someone receives an executive title. Instead, she works with established executives as well as high-potential professionals preparing for responsibilities they may not have yet.
Central to her method is creating what she calls “safe space” — an environment where someone can ask a difficult question, admit they do not know something, be challenged, and still know they are respected. From that foundation comes “the stretch,” when a person moves beyond the familiar by questioning an assumption, taking a thoughtful risk, or accepting greater responsibility. Oleksiw emphasizes that she is not interested in turning people into someone else. “I help the people who help the people,” she said. “When leaders become stronger, organizations become stronger. When organizations become stronger, they can serve more people. That’s the ripple effect that inspires everything I do.”
Her background in measurement and evaluation adds a practical dimension to her work. She believes in dreams and human potential, but also in asking what is actually working, what is changing, and whether good intentions are producing meaningful results. That combination has shaped her leadership coaching, organizational consulting, dissertation advising, teaching, research, and performance evaluation.
Looking ahead, Oleksiw hopes to broaden her impact through leadership coaching, keynote speaking, management consulting, and conversations with organizations focused on trust, resilience, purpose, authenticity, and psychological safety. For Oleksiw, success is not measured by applause but by lives changed after the conversation. As she puts it, “I want people to recognize the gifts they already have, believe those gifts matter, and have the courage to share them with the world.”
